Introduction

Transparency and privacy have always existed in tension in crypto. Open ledgers make trading activity easier to verify and reduce the need to trust opaque, centralized systems. But as more trading behavior, capital flows, and user strategies move on-chain, a new question becomes harder to ignore: what should be public, and what should stay under the user’s control?

For perp traders, that question matters even more. Your side, size, entry price, and PnL are not just data points. They can reveal your strategy, your risk exposure, and in some cases, give others a clean target to trade against. Transparency can build trust, but too much of it, at the wrong time, can put traders at risk.

As perps DEXes evolve from simple onchain trading venues into places where traders build reputation, show performance, and grow their own trading identity, the market needs a better visibility model: one that lets strong traders be seen, without forcing them to expose live strategies.

Privacy should not mean hiding everything. Transparency should not mean showing everything. What matters is giving traders the choice.

Why Position Visibility

That is why we built Position Visibility.

Position Visibility lets users decide which positions they want to show publicly, and which details they want to keep private in their Community Vaults. By default, your position information stays private. Only when you choose to make it visible can others see selected position details on your Portfolio page.

This is not just a simple “show positions” switch. It is a selective visibility layer built for perp traders. The point is not to let everyone see everything. The point is to let you decide what the market sees, when it sees it, and how much of it is revealed.

Positions stay hidden by default. Performance goes public by choice. Don’t let rivals snipe your entry, let the market see your edge.

How It Works

Position Visibility gives you granular control. You can choose which markets to show, such as BTC-USD, ETH-USD, or any other supported pair. For each market, you can also choose which fields to reveal: Side, Quantity, Entry Price, and PnL.

That means you no longer have to choose between being fully private and fully public.

You might show that you are trading a certain market without revealing your direction. You might show that you are Long or Short without showing your size. Or you might reveal your entry price and side to highlight a well-timed trade, while still keeping part of your risk profile private.

Once you save your settings, other users can view the information you made public under Portfolio → Activity → Positions. Any field you keep private will appear as --.

Position Visibility also applies to Vaults. Vault operators can use it to strike a better balance between transparency and strategy protection, giving users enough information to build trust without exposing every live position detail to the market. Read our tutorial guide in the Docs to learn how to customize your Community Vault position visibility.

A New Layer of Trader Reputation

Perps trading is becoming more social. Traders are no longer just placing orders; they are building a market identity through their views, positions, and results. But healthy trader reputation should not depend on screenshots, calls, or forced exposure. Traders need a way to prove themselves with real positions and real outcomes, without putting active strategies at risk. Position Visibility was built for that.

It turns public visibility from passive exposure into a user-controlled choice. You can protect sensitive information while still showing enough to build credibility. You can keep your strategy private while building reputation. You can let the market see your edge without giving rivals an early look at your weak points.
